One of my favorite spots for a hot breakfast is Hash Kitchen—with five locations across the Phoenix area. I’m a huge brunch fan, so Hash is perfect. Okay, the fact that it has Arizona’s largest Bloody Mary bar doesn’t hurt. And insanely amazing mimosas—who doesn’t want to start the day with a flight of mimosas?

But the menu is filled with treats that are what I like to call “craveable”. The Benedict fries. Get them to share and then don’t. Fries topped with smoked ham, peppered bacon, roasted jalapeño, perfectly poached eggs and a light creamy hollandaise that would make any French chef proud. It’s that good. As much as you want to eat it all, though, save room. Because they specialize in hashes.

Hash is the Word

Every hash comes tossed with crispy potatoes, topped with eggs, and served with a fluffy buttermilk biscuit, just like my grandma used to make. Which says a lot—I was born in the South. You can go Southwest and order the carnitas hash with braised pork, cotija, and green chili sauce. Or, opt for Italian hash with charred sausage, peppers, and onions. I usually go with herb-fried chicken hash served with a warm maple reduction. These are amazing and you won’t be hungry the rest of the day.

The French toast, waffles, fritattas—it is all amazing. I loved everything I tried. And I tried a lot.

Oh, but there’s one more must-eat at Hash Kitchen. Don’t leave without sampling the cannoli donuts. These little fried-to-order sweets are covered in cinnamon sugar and have a dollop of cannoli cream at the center. Yeah, they’re that good. You’ll want to make Hash Kitchen a habit.
