In late summer, the day after I was invited to tour Pine Canyon in Flagstaff, I also had the wonderful opportunity to experience and learn more about the luxury golf community of Talking Rock in Prescott.

Located among Prescott’s must-see scenery, Talking Rock is “a private, master-planned golf course and residential community in Prescott, Arizona, developed on a working cattle ranch known as Cooper Morgan Ranch. The luxury golf course community encompasses 3,600 acres and includes an 18-hole, Jay Morrish-designed championship golf course.”

“Talking Rock residents enjoy access to a community dog park, a fishing deck over a bass and bluegill-stocked pond, a community garden, an on-site coffee shop that serves as a community gathering area, and a full-service bar, grill, and restaurant. Talking Rock residents also have the opportunity to indulge at the pool and boutique spa, exercise at the state-of-the-art fitness center and explore on-site hiking and biking trails.”

Much like Pine Canyon, the general description is eye-catching, but there’s nothing quite like experiencing Talking Rock for yourself.

Real Estate at Talking Rock

Talking Rock is comprised of a variety of new home, homesite, and listing options. Many of the homes are ranch style, cottage or single-family options. I had the opportunity to stay in one and it was welcoming, open and had great views without being overwhelming in size. While still considered luxury real estate, most homes begin around $500,000.

Amenities at Talking Rock

One of the standout attributes of Talking Rock in my experience there was the community feel. While being located in Prescott is already perk enough in my book, Talking Rock does a lot to keep both its year-round and seasonal residents engaged.

Of course, being northern Arizona, there are scenic views, especially on the gorgeous golf course. But, if golf isn’t your sport, there are a variety of outdoor activities and clubs to join as a resident. There’s a community garden, dog park, fishing, a bike club, basketball courts, and more. There are hiking and biking trails that lead to Native hieroglyphics (hence, Talking Rock) and, once you work up an appetite, there’s an on-site restaurant, bar and grill, and coffee house.

Personally, my favorite part of the amenities was the food (yum!) and Coop’s Coffee Shop, where residents were reading and relaxing at the resident-run, on-site library. It had a fun, relaxed community feel.

Of course, as a Phoenix resident, one of my favorite parts of visiting Talking Rock was the fact that it was about a 20-minute drive from downtown Prescott—one of my favorite northern Arizona communities. If you’re in the market for luxury real estate and love the views of northern Arizona, Talking Rock is a wonderful option to consider.
