As an Northern Arizona University grad, I have a soft spot in my heart for Flagstaff. While I may live in Phoenix now, Flagstaff will always be home. That’s why, when Pine Canyon in Flagstaff invited me to tour their luxury home community and golf course, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough.
According to its official description, Pine Canyon is “a private, master-planned golf course and residential community in Flagstaff, Arizona, located adjacent to the Coconino National Forest. The luxury golf course community encompasses more than 620 acres and includes an 18-hole championship golf course. Pine Canyon boasts stunning views of the San Francisco Peaks, an award-winning 35,000-square-foot clubhouse, a second expansive recreation-focused amenity building, and a number of other family-oriented offerings.”
While, of course, the official description is all well and good—if you’re in the market for luxury real estate—there’s nothing like experiencing Pine Canyon for yourself. During my tour, I kept repeating to myself “this isn’t the Flagstaff I lived in.” And, it’s true. The properties available at Pine Canyon range from home sites to multimillion dollar homes, cabins and townhouses. I had the chance to tour and even stay in one of these homes and the best way to describe them is simply breathtaking. Think modern luxury meets forest chic. For those who are interested in home tours, Pine Canyon offers special packages where prospective buyers can stay in a home for the night and experience the community amenities for a relatively reasonable price. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the market for a home-away-from-home up north.
More info on Pine Canyon Real Estate Options: Real estate options at Pine Canyon include detached mountain cabins, paired homes, townhome trios and custom estate homes and home sites. Club Cabins, 12 luxury retreats that offer distinct living spaces, will be available for residents who temporarily need extra space or are awaiting the completion of their home. A village of townhomes, called White Pines Vista, is under construction and will offer fully managed lock-and-leave residences. Single-family cabins at Coconino Ridge are also under construction, utilizing a collaborative architectural approach from CLB Architects and Bing Hu, with a focus on architecture that balances the natural surroundings and the local cultural spirit.
For golf enthusiasts, Pine Canyon is the ultimate golfing destination – especially right now before winter sets in.
“Pine Canyon is anchored by a Jay Morrish-designed, 18-hole championship golf course cushioned by the Coconino National Forest against the backdrop of the San Francisco Peaks. The course offers challenging play, several elevation changes, lush fairways and greens, and sweeping views of the mountains and Ponderosa pines,” according to the company.
Golf isn’t my bag, but I could see myself getting into the game just for the views at Pine Canyon.
In addition to golf, Pine Canyon offers its exclusive private clubhouse that is home to delicious food and drinks. And, again, the views! Wine lovers, you’ll die for their on-site collection of wines from across the globe. Pine Canyon also has a spa (with friendly massage therapists I might add!), a fitness center, and tennis courts.
Love the outdoors? Pine Canyon is home to Trout Creek Park, its community recreation area where homeowners can enjoy barbecue grills, a children’s play area, and a variety of outdoor activities. There is also a private dog park and the creek is stocked for catch-and-release fishing. Pine Canyon also boasts must-try walking and hiking trails and even connects to the Flagstaff Urban Trail System.
As a mom, one of my favorite takeaways from my Pine Canyon tour is that the community really seems to place an emphasis on catering to residents of all ages and stages of life. Many people who own homes there are part-time residents with families, so Pine Canyon has many kid-friendly amenities, including a fun summer camp option. Pine Canyon also hosts a variety of events for its residents throughout the year.
