I had the privilege recently of spending some time with Valencia Hotel Group around Texas. I love the hospitality I received on my stays. They also have enough Texas experience to anticipate a hot summer—and have a creative solution to make your summer a little chill and a whole lot sweeter. Each hotel is offering Poptails all summer long. These adult-only popsicles will add some sizzle to your summer. I wanted to share some Poptails from a couple of the hotels, along with the recipe for each yummy offering. I recommend visiting each hotel and you’ll be able to check out my profile on some of them in the coming weeks here on Wander. Start your summer off right with some adult poptails.
Texican Court in Irving/Las Colinas
We’ll start just down the street from my own home here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Texican Court is in the Las Colinas area of Irving, across the street from Toyota Music Factory and the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.

Texican Court offers several Poptails that celebrate everything Texas.
Mexican Candy Poptail
- 1.75 oz Silver Tequila
- ½ oz Watermelon Liquor
- 3 dashes Texican Hot Sauce
- 2 oz Sprite
- Mango or Lime Popsicle
- Tajin Rim Garnished with a Lime Wedge

Mellow Yellow Poptail
- 1.75 oz Cucumber Mint Vodka
- 3 oz Lemonade
- Lemon Popsicle
- Garnish with Sliced Cucumber and Pineapple Wedge

Pineapple Breeze Poptail
- 1.75 oz Malibu Coconut Rum
- 1 oz Midori
- 2 oz Pineapple juice
- Pineapple popsicle
- Garnish with Basil and Luxardo Cherries

Hotel Alessandra in Houston
I spent two nights at Hotel Alessandra right in downtown Houston. This was an amazing stay and I highly recommend it as your home base for exploring Houston. The rooms are delightful, the food is great, but the staff here at Hotel Alessandra goes above and beyond.

One of my favorite spots at Hotel Alessandra (besides the small spa that I’ll cover more fully in another article), was the pool deck. It’s such a great space with beautiful city views. That’s where you can chill this summer and order up one of the Poptails at Hotel Alessandra.

Strawberry Greyhound Poptail
This recipe makes about 20 popsicles. Sounds like a party waiting to happen!

Ingredients
- 5 oz Absolut Grapefruit
- 8 oz REAL Strawberry Infused Syrup
- 8 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
- 8 oz Water
Directions
- Combine all ingredients into a bucket and mix well.
- Pour as needed into a popsicle form or single serve bags.
Watermelon Mojito Poptail
This is another recipe for 20 popsicles. It’s all about choices, right?

Ingredients
- 8 oz Malibu Lime
- 2 oz Lime Juice
- 8 oz Watermelon Juice (approximately 2.5 cups of fruit)
- 1 oz Mint Syrup
- 16 oz Soda Water
Directions
- Combine all ingredients into a bucket and mix well.
- Pour as needed into a popsicle form or single serve bags.
Party with a Poptail at Valencia Hotel Group Locations in Texas
The other locations of Valencia Hotel Group are also celebrating summer with Poptails. Each location offers different fun summer flavors. And…there are summer kickoff parties open to the public. This gives you a chance to sample these delicious adult popsicles.

Check out the fun at Canteen Bar & Grill at Cavalry Court, located across from Texas A&M University in College Station. The summer kick-off party to check out the adult-only popsicles is June 6, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Lone Star Court in Austin
You can head to Lone Star Court in Austin to sample their three summer Poptails: Lone Star Sunrise, Sour Grapes, and Cherry Mint Freeze. You can check these out at the public kick-off party on Friday, May 24, from 9 to 11 p.m.

I love the fun vibe I discovered at each of the hotels I visited that are part of the Valencia Hotel Group.
