Ireland is a glorious country to visit. We have put together a list if a few things you simply must do during a trip to Ireland.
Ireland is a glorious country to visit, and there’s certainly plenty to do and see. If you are overwhelmed by the choices, don’t worry, as here we have put together a list of a few things you simply must do while you are visiting Ireland.
Drink a Pint of Guinness
Pick a traditional Irish bar to drink a pint of Guinness. You’ll get the best of both the drink and the atmosphere. If you’ve never had a pint of the black stuff in Ireland, you’ve never tasted the real thing. While there, you may even get to enjoy some traditional Irish music, or food such as champ, Irish stew, or bacon and cabbage.
Bathe in Seaweed
In Sligo, you can do just that, though you’ll find the seaweed in a lovely hot bath. It is said to leave your skin lovely and soft and be a great way to clear the mind and de-stress.
Try Night Kayaking
The waters of Lough Hyne in County Cork are great for night kayaking. You paddle off at dusk and let the sky settle into its inky blackness. It’s a delight to see what happens as you move the oar through the water—a sparkly treat of bioluminescence!
Experience Viking Ireland in Waterford
The port city of Waterford is the oldest in Ireland. It was originally founded by Vikings, with sectors of the original buildings still remaining for you to explore.
For those who want to go beyond the popular highlights and explore the island’s hidden gems, such as Waterford, Ireland private tours offer a personalized itinerary tailored entirely to your interests and pace.
Visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral
A major Dublin tourist attraction, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is the largest church in Ireland. Handel’s Messiah was performed here for the first time in 1742, and Jonathan Swift, the author of  Gulliver’s Travels, is buried here. Services are still held daily, with choirs singing on many days.

Ride a Bike Along the Great Western Greenway
The 42-km Great Western Greenway trail in County Mayo can be cycled in just one day, but why not break it into two and spend the night at a point on the route? It’s a great way to see lots of lovely scenery and wildlife, so there’s no need to rush.
Enjoy a Horseback Ride Along the Beach
At the beach in Murrisk Bay in County Mayo, there are organized treks suitable for riders of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced riders.
Sign Up For a Whiskey Tasting Tour
There are several whiskey tasting tours available, depending on which whiskey you prefer. Near Kilbeggan, about an hour from Dublin, is Tullamore’s distillery, which dates from 1757. In County Cork, the Jameson Experience offers tastings of Jameson whiskey and those from several other producers.
Feast on an Irish Breakfast
You may not be able to eat the rest of the day again, but you must try an Irish Breakfast at least once on an Ireland trip. A typical breakfast could include bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried potatoes, black and white pudding, toast and marmalade, and/or soda bread, and perhaps also potato pancakes. Plus endless pots of tea! Don’t plan to do anything active right after!
