Mountain Shadows Offers Delightful Summer Escapes

Nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain is the reborn Mountain Shadows Resort. This gorgeous retreat was inspired by the Mountain Shadows legacy. Like the mythical bird, the Phoenix, Mountain Shadows has risen again. This hotel stays true to the clean, mid-century modern lines with all of the luxury comforts of today.

I recently spent the day poolside playing hooky with a Media Ditch Day. Soaking up the Arizona sun before it gets too warm, I enjoyed framed views of Camelback Mountain. Not only did I relax but I got to enjoy some of the newest experiences they will be offering to guests. Check out some of the options below.

I started my ditch-day with some poolside yoga. After an uplifting and energy restoring session we enjoyed lunch. The Rosé all day tent caught my eye and was especially fun. Experiencing the varied tastes of Rosé from different regions was incredibly eye opening.  Side by side tastings are always inspiring. Full disclosure – as much as I enjoy wine I am not an expert but the variety of flavors absolutely delighted me. From California to France it is a fantastic tasting journey for connoisseurs to beginners.

Spring Photography Essentials – April 28, May 19 from 2-4 p.m.

Joanie Simon (thebiteshot) is an amazing photographer and I had a really fun and interesting time learning more about the craft. Taking pictures of food is trickier than it looks! Mountain Shadow guests will also have the opportunity to learn from Joanie with their monthly Photography Essentials classes.

Poolside Cabana Dinners: A Custom Hearth '61 Experience.

We got to enjoy some pool-side cooking demonstrations from executive Sous Chef Christopher Brugman. He prepared some tastes for us from Hearth '61. I especially loved the cool coconut carrot soup. He also introduced us to Elephants Food, Glacier lettuce and a variety of edible flowers from Twisted Infusion Farms. Heather Szymura was there to talk to us about Twisted Infusion Farms and how she left the corporate world and ultimately ended up urban gardening. Using a freight container they are able to grow acres of food in a small space. The food Twisted Infusions Farms provides to restaurants is absolutely delicious and beautiful.

The “by reservation only” dinner is the perfect place to pop the question or, for lovebirds celebrating an anniversary, to indulge in a custom, five-course dinner with thoughtfully paired wines and incredible cuisine from executive sous chef Christopher Brugman. This exclusive experience is available February through May and again September through November. After dining and enjoying the ambiance of the glistening pools and surrounding mountains, the cabana is the guests' to enjoy.  The television can even be set up to show cherished photos.
