A new electric car dealership has landed in Arizona’s Valley of the Sun. Lucid Motors opened a showroom in Scottsdale Fashion Square.

What is Lucid Motors?

Lucid Motors is a new American automobile company, headquartered in Silicon Valley. Lucid is dedicated to creating sustainable mobility without compromise. The company’s first offering, the Lucid Air, seems to have hit the mark.

The Lucid Air

Lucid’s first model is the Lucid Air, which is the longest-range luxury electric car in the world. Conforming to Lucid’s “without compromise” slogan, the Air can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge and still accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds. The batteries are race-tested in Formula E racing cars. All this performance is wrapped in a luxury car, designed with a California aesthetic.

Shopping in the Electric Car Showroom

Lucid builds cars to order so you don’t have a lot of cars to look at as you compare options. In fact, there is only one car in the Scottsdale electric car showroom. As a high-tech alternative, Lucid offers a virtual reality shopping experience. You sit in a mock-up of the interior or walk around the outside of the car wearing a virtual reality headset. Through the headset, you see all of the interior and exterior options. You can even change the background to see how your new car will look at the coast or in the desert.

Sitting in the mock-up, you feel the textures of the leather, carpets, and woodwork. As you look through the VR goggles and make your selections, your friends and family see what you are seeing via a large screen monitor on the showroom wall.

During the shopping experience, you sit in a mock-up of the car’s interior while wearing a virtual reality headset.

There are also “bento boxes” where you can see and touch the various fabric combinations available. My favorite was the Santa Cruz interior and black exterior.

Manufactured in Arizona

Lucid manufactures its cars in the first purpose-built electric car factory in the United States. The factory is located in Casa Grande, Arizona. For Arizonans, Lucid is a hometown car.

In addition to the natural world, Bill is a student of history and seeks out experiences that connect us with the past. He has walked among the ruins of a Bronze Age village in France, stood before petroglyphs carved by ancient Americans, and read graffiti left by citizens of the Roman Empire. He has trod in the footsteps of crusaders, outlaws, and explorers. In the technological world, Bill has traveled onboard vintage railroads, driven race cars and 18 wheelers, gazed at the antennas of the Very Large Array, and even flown an F-15 fighter. Bill’s passion now is to share these experiences with others in a responsible way that will allow future generations to have the same experiences.
