Oceanside, Calif.’s, Hello Betty Fish House puts a new spin on Baja SoCal beachside eats. Oceanside is pure California. Located north of San Diego, the country’s surfing industry grew up here. This is my idea of a perfect escape—moments from California’s busiest freeways but steps from wide, sandy beaches, a historical wooden pier and bonfires on the beach. On a recent trip to Oceanside, I discovered there are still plenty of eclectic characters in this little waterfront enclave, along with some fresh-from-the-ocean good eats.
