Keep in mind that Isla Mujeres is an island, so you will have to take a ferry. Here are some options to get to the ferry stations and make your way quickly to Isla Mujeres.

Planning to Rent a Car?
Once you arrive at the Cancun airport, you will see several companies offering Cancun airport car rentals with different options that will suit any budget and needs.
If you decide to rent a car, you can cross with it to Isla Mujeres from the cargo terminal in Punta Sam next to the Villa del Palmar hotel, with crossings every hour. The average cost per car is $300 MXN (or about $15). The price includes the crossing for one person. If more people go, you will need to purchase individual tickets for passengers.

If you prefer to leave your car in the parking lot of the ferry station in Cancun, you have other options:
- Ultramar ferry station at Playa Tortugas in the Hotel Zone. Ferries depart once an hour from 9 am to 5 pm with a final ferry at 5:45 pm. Round-trip fares are $512MXN (about $26US).
- Ultramar ferry station at Playa Caracol in the Hotel Zone. Ferries depart from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm with staggered times. Round-trip fares are $512MXN (about $26US).
- Main Ultramar station at Puerto Juarez from downtown Cancun. Ferries depart every 30 or 60 minutes from 5:30 am to 11 pm and round-trip fares are $462MXN (about $23US).
How to Get to the Ferry Terminal Without a Car
At the airport, you will find several options to choose from if you prefer not to rent a car. There is something for even tight budgets or for those who don’t have much time.
For example, you can choose to take Cancun airport transfers to the ferry station of your choice. This is the best option if you don’t have much time or if you want to get to Isla Mujeres as soon as possible. The cost varies, depending on the type of service you prefer.

Another option is to take the Cancun Airport Transportation service. This service is the same as the Cancun airport transfer service mentioned above but is provided by the Cancun airport, which could be a little more expensive. We do not recommend you take a cab directly from the airport. The price of cabs at the airport is really expensive.
There is one more option, which is to take ADO. You can buy tickets in advance or at Terminals 2 and 3. The ADO departures are from Terminal 2 and take you to the ADO station in downtown Cancun, where you will have to take a cab or bus to go to your hotel.
