I recently had the pleasure of visiting Aldaco’s Mexican Cuisine in San Antonio. The food was fabulous, but the big hit for me was the Avocado Margarita.

At first, I wasn’t sure it sounded like something I’d enjoy. Green. Frozen. I just questioned the entire concept. So, in true Susan fashion, I knew I needed to try it. Aldaco’s Avocado Margarita turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. It’s smooth and creamy, but has a kick to it. This heavenly blend is made with Mexican Haas avocados, fresh lime juice, tequila and triple sec. It’s then served frozen in a martini glass rimmed with a chili-lime salt. Between the avocados, the tequila and the chili rimming the glass, you’ll know you’ve found one of life’s great little pleasures.

I’m not the only one who likes the tasty drink. It placed 3rd in the 2006 Avocados from Mexico Nationwide Recipe Contest and was listed in Food & Arts magazine.

Aldaco’s has two locations in San Antonio, the one I visited in the Historic Sunset Station and another location on Stone Oak Parkway. You’ll find excellent authentic Mexican food with enough of a modern twist to please every palate.
