I spent a few days in October on the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington. The seas were amazing during my stay, ranging from brilliant blue skies and white caps to gray skies, rain and crashing waves. I was enchanted with this breathtakingly beautiful part of our country. I felt alive in the fresh air and wanted to experience every sound, smell and view around me. I stayed at Kalaloch Lodge, operated by Delaware North Companies inside the Olympic National Park.

Days were filled with wandering the beaches, exploring the nearby Hoh Rainforest, or climbing on board a boat with Island Adventures to go whale watching. Evenings were spent enjoying the amazing food and cocktails at Kalaloch Lodge, roasting marshmallows around a bonfire or cozied up in front of a fireplace. This was one of those trips I will forever remember—every detail, every smell, every nuance, every meal. Here’s a short video highlighting some of the best moments of my visit to Kalaloch Lodge and the Olympic National Park. Note, all photographs are mine except for the one of Kalaloch Lodge and the cabins at the lodge. Those are courtesy of Evan Tennant, Delaware North Companies.

That clear water in the rain forest looked exquisite. Did you try it? There’s something deliciously decadent to me about sipping icy cold water in a place like that.

No, we couldn’t try it. We had to stay on the trail and they discourage that. However, I so wanted to dip my hands down in that clear water and take a sip.
