I love sharing my travels on social media. One of my favorite ways to share my “wow moments” is on Instagram. Here it is the end of another year and I decided the best way to take a look back at 2018 is to see what my followers enjoyed most on Instagram. So, here’s a look back at my 30 best travel photos of 2018, according to Instagram.

1—Fall at VeeBar Guest Ranch, Laramie, WY

You can enjoy the 150 years of women’s suffrage this summer at VeeBar Guest Ranch just outside Laramie, Wyoming. I enjoyed this visit in October and the fall foliage was breathtaking.

2—Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie, TX

I’m still fairly new to Texas and this month (December 2018) I tried to see some of the light spectaculars offered here in the Lone Star State. I suggest Prairie Lights in Lynn Creek Park overlooking Joe Pool Lake in Grand Prairie. A fun evening!

3—Huntington Desert Garden, Pasadena, CA

Although I didn’t visit Huntington Desert Garden in 2018, it was one of my fondest memories. This is really a gem just a few minutes from downtown Pasadena. Prepare to spend a day exploring the gardens, art galleries, and library at The Huntington.

4—Sunset over Phoenix, AZ

There’s nothing quite like an Arizona sunset. This one was in January 2018. There’s definitely much to do in Arizona, but save time to catch the sunsets!

5—Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA

I wandered through Walla Walla, Washington’s wine country in September 2018. I loved the wines but also enjoyed exploring the unique artwork on display at the campus of Whitman College. This is one of my favorite small towns!

6—Spring at Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

I’ve enjoyed getting to know some of the sights here in Dallas, Texas. One of my favorite visits was to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden in late March to see the tulips in bloom. Simply breathtaking experience. I also enjoyed the gardens again this winter when it was decorated for the holidays.

It was the perfect #spring day at @thedallasarboretum on Saturday as I listened to the birds chirping in the cherry trees and wandered through the tulips 🌷. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of tulips in so many colors! #flowers were everywhere. I think one of my favorite things in these beautiful #dallas #gardens is that you can sample food made with herbs in their gardens. They do tastings everyday and the Arboretum has a spectacular herb garden. A lovely way to spend a day while exploring Dallas. #wanderwithwonder . . . #travel #wanderlust #acrossthestreet #botanicalgardens #springtime #flowerstagram #tulips #naturephotography #naturelovers #arboretum #texas #dallasarboretum #dallasbeauty #outdoors

7—Along Rocky Mountaineer Route, Vancouver, Canada

While I didn’t take a ride on Rocky Mountaineer in 2018, I did have a chance to share my love for this luxury train ride through the Canadian Rockies with my readers and some live audiences. My two journeys are some of the best travel memories of my life.

8—Tanque Verde Ranch, Tucson, AZ

I had a chance to visit several guest ranches this year, including a repeat visit to Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, Arizona. This is a family destination where you can ride horses and enjoy the desert.

9—Big Ben and Parliament from the London Eye

Although I didn’t make it to London during 2018, my memory of the visit I made there five years ago was one of my most popular photos this year. I took this picture from inside the London Eye, looking out over Parliament, Big Ben and the Thames. I can’t wait to visit London again!

10—Spring in Vancouver, Canada

One of my favorite places to wander during the spring is Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. It’s a vibrant city with great food and activities. The flowers start peeping out in mid-April.

11—Warm Welcome at Hacienda Del Sol, Tucson, AZ

I adore historic hotels and one that made me feel so welcome was Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch in Tucson. And when these beautiful flowers from their gardens greet you, what’s not to like?

12—Cayuse Winery, Walla Walla, WA

The grapes were just getting ripe when I visited Walla Walla, Washington in late August. My visit, courtesy Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, introduced me to some of my now-favorite wines.

13—Saguaros in the Desert, Tanque Verde Ranch, Tucson, AZ

Obviously, the Arizona desert is a favorite topic on Instagram. This was the view from my casita when I visited Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson this October.

14—Charcuterie at Three Rivers Winery, Walla Walla, WA

I fell in love with great Walla Walla Valley wines during my visit there in late August/early September 2018. One of my favorite moments was enjoying a VIP wine tasting at Three Rivers Winery.

15—Seagull on Kalaloch Beach, Olympic National Park, WA

Another great memory that I shared this year, even though my visit was a couple of years ago, was Kalaloch Beach in Olympic National Park. I love the wilderness of the Washington coast.

16—Airlie Gardens, Wilmington, NC

Although I didn’t visit Wilmington, NC this year, I consider myself very lucky to have spent time wandering through Airlie Gardens last year. My thoughts went out to everyone in Wilmington during this year’s hurricane season. I’m thrilled to note that Airlie Gardens is once again open and the massive Airlie Oak, Pergola, Bottle Chapel, and Butterfly House survived.

17—Bull Elk at Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

One of the things I love most about Colorado is the wildlife. It can literally be around every bend. We discovered this massive bull elk in the middle of the road this summer in Rocky Mountain National Park.

18—Fuschia at Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden, Mendocino, CA

I love the California coast near Mendocino. One of my highlights there was visiting the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden. The fuchsias bloom throughout the summer months.

19—Cheyenne Boots, Cheyenne Depot Plaza, WY

October’s road trip through Wyoming took me to the state’s capital city of Cheyenne. It’s great fun to find all of the 8-foot-tall cowboy boots located throughout the city. This Cheyenne Big Boot, in Cheyenne Depot Plaza, depicts downtown Cheyenne.

20—Hogadon Basin Ski Area, WY

In early October, I took an amazing road trip through Wyoming. Although it was early, we had some beautiful snow for the day we paid a visit to Hogadon Basin Ski Area, located just a few miles outside Casper.

21—Fun Eats at Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards, Niagara, NY

I made my second visit to Niagara Falls, NY in September 2018. There are some beautiful vineyards in the area. I enjoyed a fun evening with great eats at Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards.

22—On the Trail at Drowsy Water Ranch, Grand County, CO

It was a homecoming of sorts for me when I visited Grand County, Colorado in June. I grew up not far from here and I felt so at home being back in the Rockies. Drowsy Water Ranch is such a comfortable place to vacation!

23—Rock Bar, Bali

This was definitely not a 2018 trip, but still one of my favorite memories! My husband and I visited Bali and stayed at the magnificent Ayana Resort there. We were able to spend one evening sitting at Rock Bar, watching the sun go down over the Indian Ocean.

24—Exploring Budapest, Hungary with Viking River Cruises

I posted this photo of Budapest in February, from my first trip there for a cruise from Bucharest to Budapest on the Danube with Viking River Cruises. Little did I know that I would make another trip there in June 2018. Such amazing memories.

25—Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany during an excursion with CroisiEurope

In early April 2018, my husband and I took a cruise with CroisiEurope from Strasbourg, France—along the Main, Rhine, and Danube rivers—to Vienna, Austria. This is a bit of a storybook photo, taken outside the old city rampart at Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany.

26—Fairytale view of Česky Krumlov, Czech Republic, during an excursion with Viking River Cruises

During my June cruise with Viking River Cruises along the Danube—from Budapest, Hungary to Passau, Germany—I spent a day in Česky Krumlov, Czech Republic. I fell in love with this little town and look forward to exploring more of the Czech Republic.

27—Giant Hands of Venice’s Grand Canal, Venice, Italy

I had a chance to spend three days in Venice during April 2018 with my husband. It was the perfect season to visit Venice and I think it may be the best place he and I ever visited together. This photo, which I took during a ride along the Grand Canal, is of an art installation that was there at the time. “Support” by Lorenzo Quinn was bringing awareness to issues caused by climate change.

Travel always offers something unique. This was one of my fun #wowmoments on my visit to #venice that had me really wanting to return. The art and creativity of Venice was unlike anything elsewhere. I absolutely fell in love with another part of Italy. How fun to discover the unexpected. #wanderwithwonder . . . #venezia #italy #travel #picoftheday #travelwriter #instalike #instagood #photooftheday #justbackfrom #passionpassport #letsgosomewhere #stayandwander #bestvacations #welltravelled #openmyworld #travelstoke #wonderful_places #beautifuldestinations #instatravel #IG_Europe #BBCTravel #travelawesome #welltravelled #travelnow #keepexploring #instapassport #blueskydestinations

28—Vienna, Austria

I had always wanted to visit Vienna. It’s been the dream of a lifetime. I was there in April 2018 and then had an unexpected opportunity to visit again in June. This was MY trip of a lifetime this year. Did you have one?

29—Relaxing at Sunrise Springs Spa Resort, Santa Fe, NM

I didn’t visit Santa Fe in 2018, so this was another post of a previous visit. But it was such a magical trip and I relax simply thinking about it. I love Santa Fe and have had many visits there over the years. But my favorite visit there was a spa trip to Sunrise Springs Spa Resort. One of the best destination spa visits I’ve experienced and such a welcoming spot!

30—Journey Through The Clouds with Rocky Mountaineer, Western Canada

I’ve had amazing wow moments the past couple of years onboard Rocky Mountaineer. I hope to have many more grand journeys leading to more amazing wow moments.

I hope you have great moments throughout 2019. Not everything is—or needs to be—an Instagram moment (but I’d love to see you there when you want some inspiration). Sometimes things that mean the most are the ones you must simply carry inside your heart. I hope you find happy moments wherever you may wander in 2019. Be sure to let me know how your travels go in the coming year!
