Wellness is something everyone deserves. Eating well, being active and more can lead to physical wellness. However, stress, sore muscles or a specific health issue can lead to muscle pain. Massage therapy is a great way to decompress and address stress—both mental and physical. Elements Massage opened their doors with the premise that everyone from the competitive athlete to the busy business person can benefit from the therapeutic release of massage.  I recently popped into Elements Massage to learn more about their new AromaRitual treatment.

Massage for Wellness

With two hundred studios around the country, Elements Massage is incredibly accessible. Staffed by trained massage therapists, it provides a quality treatment for your journey to wellness. Even before you climb on the table the staff is listening to your needs. When you book your session the scheduler will ask you about any injuries, stress levels and other important questions in order to match you to the best therapist.

There are several different styles of massage pressure and each style is used to address specific needs. According to Elements Massage these are:

Effleurage (Stroking) — Main uses are at the beginning or end of a massage or as connecting or linking movements.

Petrissage — Deeper strokes applied by the fingers, thumbs, or heels of a hand. Kneading, picking up, wringing, and rolling are all forms of petrissage.

Tapotement — Used for stimulating and toning an area. Forms of this technique include cupping and hacking, among others.

Frictions — Applied on the surface tissue, these are rubbing movements on the skin.

Vibrations — Generally used to relieve fatigue and pain, these movements can help cure a certain area, creating a natural sedative.

AromaRitual at Elements Massage

Aromatherapy is the practice of using certain scents to relax, calm, awaken or even just refresh the body and mind. Elements recently began offering their AromaRitual massage and I had the immense treat of getting to experience a one of these treatments recently. Each treatment comes with the choice of one of three aromatherapy essences.

According to Elements Massage these are:

Energize — Comprised of lemon, ginger and geranium, Energize provides a stimulating and invigorating experience that uplifts the senses while providing balance and purification for a deep cleanse.

Calm — Lavender, nutmeg and black pepper come together for a treatment that is not only nurturing and relaxing, but also actively relieves muscle pain and headaches.

Refresh — Eucalyptus, peppermint and patchouli are combined for an enlivened, yet balanced soothing experience. This naturally purifying and cooling scent freshens the air and supports deeper breathing for total relaxation.

I decided to go with the Energize. I needed to recharge and couldn't imagine a better way to do that than to enhance my deep massage to loosen up the stiffness in my back and shoulder. The clean and bright scent of lemon and ginger awakened my mind and I felt like it enhanced the blood flow to allow deep healing to occur.

The scent was not too overpowering and I look forward to heading back for a calming, relaxing massage soon. My massage therapist was incredibly professional and found the deep muscle tension. I was incredibly impressed with not just the ease in scheduling the appointment, the friendly staff, but also the truly relaxing atmosphere that Elements Massage has created for guests.
