The Sonoita American Viticultural Area, one of the first winegrowing locations in the United States to receive the AVA status, is offering enticing spring and summer specials for wine enthusiasts. The South Eastern Arizona area encompasses a hidden treasure of vineyards among the Sky Islands of the Santa Rita, Whetstone and Huachuca Mountains that features award-winning wineries and tasting rooms.

The Sonoita Inclusive Wine Country Package features everything wine aficionados and local travelers need to enjoy the best of Arizona’s vineyards. For just $268, based on double occupancy, guests can enjoy a one-night stay at the Sonoita Inn, a charming western country lodge nestled at the crossroads of scenic state routes 82 and 83. The package also includes a complimentary bottle of Kief-Joshua wine upon check-in; a $40 gift card to enjoy the Steak Out Restaurant & Saloon, which is next door to the Sonoita Inn and features live country music Wednesday through Sunday evenings; continental breakfast at the Inn; commemorative wine glass and tastings at three locations — Kief-Joshua Vineyards, Village of Elgin Winery and Sonoita Vineyards. These three wineries are part of the Sonoita Arizona Wine Tour that USA Today deemed “one of the top ten wine trails in the United States” and are all featured on Ranking Arizona 2017’s Top 10 Wineries list. About Sonoita AVA

What began as a research project by a soil scientist at the University of Arizona and pioneering vintner, Dr. Gordon Dutt, in the 1970s evolved into the establishment of the Sonoita AVA in 1984. Located about 40 miles southeast of Tucson, the area’s high altitude basin surrounded by mountain ranges, and unique soil characteristics make it an ideal wine-growing region. For more information about the Sonoita AVA, contact www.sonoitawineguild.com.
