I recently visited Market Street Kitchen located in DC Ranch in North Scottsdale to sample the new winter cocktail menu. This was my first visit and I was in for a treat! The winter menu includes new cocktails and nosh. The MSK team has really rolled out all the stops with the cocktails this season, recreating classic favorites for a new season. We sat at the bar to better to watch Garrit shake, stir and explain his amazing libations.
On the surface, the Pisco-Techa is ladylike; however, the combinations of Barsol Pisco, apricot, benedictine, lime and absinthe make this drink anything but dainty. If you have never had the opportunity to enjoy absinthe before, this drink is a perfect place to start. Absinthe is an anise-flavored alcohol, but this cocktail balanced out the strong licorice flavor of anise with the sweetness of the Barsol Pisco (which is a brandy made in Peru and Chile).
Who doesn’t love a mat-tai? Rum cocktails are my favorite way to stay refreshed during summer adventures. Yet with cooler temperatures coming, Garrit creates the Chai-Tai as the perfect rum drink to sip by the fire! With Plantation OFTD rum, Stiggins’ Fancy Rum, orgeat, chai, lemon, and lime, this drink is the perfect transition from the sandy beaches to the snowy mountains.
Cozy up to the Sherry Baby, a cocktail that is sweet and sensual as only a whiskey cocktail can be. Rittenhouse Rye combined with madeira, grapefruit and cinnamon syrup served over ice with copper straws, this drink is ice cold but radiates heat from the inside out. I love how the sweet and sour of grapefruit combines with the cinnamon syrup—a combination I would never have thought up on my own.
I love bourbon and in discussing my love for bourbon, Garrit mixed me up a little treat. Described on the menu as “If the Spice Girls were to add a 6th,” this combination of pomegranate liqueur, canton ginger, bourbon, lemon and ginger bitters would steal the spotlight. The pomegranate liqueur meets your tastebuds with a splash of tart, quickly followed by the zing of ginger and then the smoky sweet flavor of bourbon lingers. Served with a simple garnish of pomegranate seeds frozen into an ice cube, this drink is as simply beautiful as it is delicious.

They also created some new and thrilling options to nosh on including amazing charcuterie options! Choose from options like duck breast, prosciutto, and dry salami and pair it with cheeses such as:
- Cahills Plain Porter Cheese, a cow’s milk cheese from Ireland that is infused with Irish porter
- Smokey Bleu, an Oregon cow’s milk cheese that is cave aged
- Prairie Breeze White Cheddar from Wisconsin’s Milton Creamery
Market Street Kitchen is located at 20825 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85255 in DC Ranch. Open Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm for lunch; Sunday through Thursday from 5pm to 9pm and until 10pm on Friday & Saturday for dinner. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
