La Hacienda at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess defined great Mexican fine dining in the Phoenix area for nearly two decades before it closed a few years back. It was great news for Valley residents when La Hacienda reopened in early 2010 with a fresh, contemporary twist.
Richard Sandoval, known in the restaurant industry as the “Father of Modern Mexican Cuisine,” came on board to help direct the menu and create food using what he calls “old hands and new ways” to explore Latin cuisine. The results is healthier meals with a creative flair. Indigenous ingredients such as huitlacoche, pomegranate, epazote and queso blaco replace the traditional yellow rice, refried beans and cheese-laden dishes.
