Firesky Resort & Spa is a hidden gem in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. Driving past the resort on Scottsdale Road, you would never know what’s tucked away behind the beautiful front door. Once you pass through a gorgeous lobby — and past Taggia, the hotel’s restaurant that serves up some incredible and quite unique Italian cuisine that you really must try during your stay — you enter a beautiful garden and forget you’re in the middle of the desert.

My pool-front room reflected the feel of the Kimpton hotel brand to which the hotel belongs, while capturing the unique spirit of Firesky Resort, with its homage to the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. It was sleek and modern without being uncomfortable. The bed was inviting and I loved the full window that opened to the deck. The room overlooked the pool and lagoon, giving me a great airy feel even when I was inside of the room. I laughed with pleasure when I found the robe in the closet in a fun cheetah print. So much better than a typical hotel room robe. (Yes, they are available for purchase.)

I loved the staff at the Firesky and as at all of my favorite picks, a hotel must have a great staff to be considered a great hotel room. Everyone there is friendly, they take time to talk to their guests, and if you ask for something, they do their best to make it happen. I loved the wine tasting set up in the lobby during happy hour each evening. The hotel manager made a point to come out and speak to guests, to talk about the wines, the hotel, his city.

One of the great things about Firesky Resort is that it encourages guests to sit and chat, relax, unwind. There are spots scattered throughout the property where guests can sit back with a book, a glass of wine, or just the quiet…and enjoy the slow pace of life in Arizona. The pool area is great. Surrounded by lush gardens, subtle lighting, firepits, outdoor seating, the pools themselves are perfect for floating and lounging. There’s even a separate sand beach for the kids.

When you’re there, be sure to say hello to the manager’s dog who loves to come to work with him. If you bring your own pet, the resort is pet friendly. Need to leave your pet at home? No worries. The hotel can send up a fish to keep you company during your stay and the maid will even ensure it’s fed each day.

I also enjoyed a wonderful spa treatment at the Firesky. The spa is a beautiful oasis tucked into a quiet corner of the resort. I encourage you to book a treatment during your stay.

I definitely found something special at Firesky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale. It was so unexpected right within Scottsdale. My room was comfortable, the pool was so much fun, I had some great summer cocktails (a watermelon margarita was delightful), and my meals at Taggia were delicious. I can’t wait to take my grandkids to Firesky this summer so they can play at the sandy beach while I lounge poolside with drink in hand.
