As I travel across the country, I’m often amazed at the fabulous museums found in the most unsuspecting places. One exhibit that took my breath away was the “Hot Color Cool Glass” exhibit at the Arkansas Arts Center. This extraordinary collection is on display now through July 27, 2008. If you find yourself in Little Rock with some extra time, this is a great way to spend a few hours. This exclusive exhibit features over 120 works from artisans throughout the 20th century. You’ll find a gorgeous Tiffany lamp sitting just across from the blown glass creations of Chihuly. The photo here shows an exquisite display of clear blown glass.
The Arkansas Arts Center is on 9th and Commerce in the heart of Little Rock. The hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday and 11 to 5 on Sunday. If you don’t get to the museum before the exhibit leaves, you’ll still find some extraordinary exhibits. You’ll want to mark your calendars for the Andy Warhol exhibit that runs from October 17, 2008 through February 1, 2009.
